SLH Board Members

SLH is managed by a Board of 4 tenant members, 4 independent members and 2 council members, with a provision of up to 4 co-optees. The Board governs SLH Group by approving and monitoring the Corporate Plan.

	John McHale - Chair John has been Chair of the SLH Board since 2005. He is a past president of the Chartered Institute of Housing and a former Chief Executive of a large housing association. John has a Masters degree in Economics and Politics and currently provides consultancy services to housing associations throughout the UK.
	Mike Birkett - Vice Chair Mike has been a Board member with SLH since February 2007. Outside of the Board, Mike is Chief Executive of Calico Housing in Burnley, where he has worked since 2003.
	Colin Strickland - Council Nominee Colin has lived in the area for 40 years, and is currently the manager of Riverside Credit Union in Speke and a local councillor.Through these roles he meets many people, and he has significant knowledge of local issues. He sits on the Resources and Audit & Quality committees, and is a season ticket holder at Everton football club.
	Ruth Stott - Independent Member Ruth is a chartered accountant who trained with a local firm. Since qualifying she has spent 12 years working for housing associations in Liverpool and Manchester. She currently works for Mersey Care NHS Trust as Finance Manager with the financial management of Social Care including Learning Disability Services, Drug & Alcohol Services and Older People's Mental Health Services.
	Doreen Knight - Council Nominee Doreen has served on the Board since July 2007, and lives locally. She currently works at Riverside Credit Union in Speke.
	Barbara Southern - Tenant Member Barbara has been involved with SLH since its inception, and is a member of the Operations and Audit & Quality Committees. She is also involved with Garston District Community Council and Bankfield House.
	Larry Dack - Tenant Member After realising his ambition to be a senior manager for a local manufacturing company, Larry turned his attentions closer to home where his family have lived for 55 years, and he trained to become a Tenant Auditor for SLH. Whilst improving the void homes process and working on a number of training for tenants, Larry knew that he wanted to get behind the scenes at SLH and better understand the business. His main focus is making sure SLH has good governance and is a well run company. In his spare time he likes listening to music and walking his dog.
	Rob Brown - Independent Member Rob has worked in the Manchester housing sector for over 26 years. He has extensive involvement in Manchester City Council's housing strategy delivery. This involvement has seen him make significant contributions to project planning and delivery. Rob is currently lead officer in managing extensive tenant consultation projects. Rob works and lives in Manchester and undertakes several pieces of voluntary work, from running football teams to assisting with community projects within Moss Side.
	Lilian Skerry - Tenant Member Lilian has lived in Garston all her life. Married for 34 years, she has 4 grown-up children and 4 grandchildren. She works part-time and also sits on the Neighbourhood Panel. Lilian took an interest in SLH following the transfer in 1999 and joined the Board in September 2008. Lilian says "I am delighted to be appointed a Board member for SLH".
	Kayleigh Ennis - Co-optee Kayleigh has been a Junior Board member since 2006 and was co-opted to the main Board in October 2009. She was nominated by her peers and will act as the Junior Board's voice at Senior Board level, meaning youth concerns will inform all Board decisions.
