It's On Yer Bike For SLH Staff

We want to encourage as many as our staff as possible to get on their bikes and cycle into work.

Employees at South Liverpool Housing were encouraged to get out and about on two wheels during Team Green Britain Bike Week (19-27th June)

SLH launched its Cycle2Work scheme which encourages staff to ditch their car and cycle into work. The innovative scheme is a government initiative which allows employers to loan cycles and safety equipment up to the value of £1000 to employees as a tax free benefit.

Payments will be taken from the employee's monthly salary before Income Tax and National Insurance contributions are taken out, resulting in a significant saving.

At the end of the hire period employees are offered the chance to buy the bike off SLH at a minimal cost - making a saving of up to 50% off the cost of a new bike.

Tony Russell, SLH's Director of Corporate Services said: "We want to encourage as many as our staff as possible to get on their bikes and cycle into work. Cycling is a great way of keeping you fit and healthy, it's cheap and it's an environmentally friendly way to travel.

"Over 30% of our staff live within a 5 mile commute to work so I'm confident we will have lots of people interested in taking part in the scheme."

Team Green Britain Bike Week is an annual opportunity to promote cycling and show how cycling can easily be part of everyday life. Demonstrating the social, health and environmental benefits of cycling, the week aims to get people to give cycling a go all over the UK.
