We are delighted that our approach to health & wellbeing has been recognised nationally when we gained the Workplace Wellbeing Charter this month. And what’s more, the assessor said that we were one of the best Charter participants that they had ever seen!
The Charter is a set of guidelines that reflect an organisations commitment to the wellbeing of their workforce and creating a great place to work. It is recognised as the business standard for health and wellbeing across England so we were delighted to achieve the ‘excellence’ standard in six of the eight categories we were assessed on.
Employee wellbeing is a high priority at SLH. Through our ‘Every Person Positive’ project employees now have greater choice and a more personalised wellbeing service which includes all colleagues receiving an annual wellbeing payment, individual life coach and nutrition sessions, and a healthier workplace environment.
Colin Gibson, Head of HR & Organisation Development is pleases with the result "Every Person Positive has been a great way for employees to improve their health and wellbeing at work as well as at home, in a way that suits them. It has become such a priority at SLH that the first question managers now ask in monthly one-to-ones with employees is how their personal wellbeing is.”
“We strongly believe that by having wellbeing as an integral part of our business strategy, we will foster happier, motivated and more productive employees. This is backed up when we have taken the top spot in The Sunday Times 100 ‘Best Not-For-Profit Organisations to Work For’ list for the past three years and have been awarded the elite Investors in People Gold status in 2014 and 2015.”
Just recently we have introduced a ‘Living Room’ where people can play pool, table tennis or just chill out at lunchtime as well as providing foldaway bikes for employees to use when visiting tenants.
