It’s all adding up for SLH after we have been shortlisted in two categories at the Housing Association National Accountancy Awards (the HANA's), ran by the National Housing Federation.
SLH has been shortlisted for the Most Effective Risk Management Approach category and SLH’s Michael Whitehead has been recognised in the Finance Director of the Year category.
The HANA’s, which celebrates its fourth anniversary this year, showcase excellence in finance across the housing sector.
SLH’s Deputy CEO, Wayne Gales said, “Like many housing associations, we are operating in very challenging times which means we have had to work harder than ever to make sure we continue to maintain our financial strength so that we can continue to deliver excellent services to our tenants.“
“And this is what makes this recognition all the more rewarding,” continues Wayne, “Michael’s contribution has been invaluable to our successes at SLH, ensuring our finances are robust, compliant and support SLH’s future growth. Equally, Ian Cresswell, Director of Risk and Technology, has been instrumental in revitalizing our approach to risk management, essential in light of the current operating environment and challenges faced by the organisation and many of our tenants.”
Last year SLH increased their capacity to invest by completing a refinancing of £35 million; securing a 30-year fixed-rate loan, giving SLH long-term certainty and lower interest rates as well obtaining a flexible 10-year loan. This refinancing project has helped secure the long-term financial future of SLH, putting us in a strong position to deliver our ambitious seven-year corporate plan, Our Journey to 2022.
The winners of the HANA’s will be announced at an awards ceremony on Tuesday 5 July at the Radisson Blu Portman Hotel in London.
